Dr. O'Leary-Kelley has extensive background in Critical Care Nursing. She currently Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at San Jose State University. The focus of her work over the past two years has been directed toward providing simulated environments using clinical simulation as a way for nursing students to build their confidence and decision-making skills. She is coordinator for the school's Clinical Simulation Laboratory which is equipped with high-fidelity computerized patient simulators, advanced audio and video recording equipment, and space for faculty and students to reflect on their practice in the simulated environment. She works in collaboration with the faculty to integrate simulation into the curriculum at all levels to enhance student performance and safe practice in the clinical setting. Her research is focused on the use of clinical simulation in nursing education. Dr. O'Leary-Kelly is Chair of the Bay Area Simulation Collaborative and a member of the California Simulation Alliance.
