Dr. Dominique Van Hooff is the Chair of the Department of Foreign Languages SJSU. A French native and a Full Professor of French literature. She is a specialist of Modern French literature and Business French. A scholar in comparative aesthetics and French Naturalism, she has published many articles and has presented numerous scholarly papers at conferences mainly on Julien Green, Emile Zola and Naturalism, Pierre Loti and Simone de Beauvoir. She has published textbooks in Business French (Mc Graw Hill) and she is the co-author of En Bonne Forme (Houghton Mifflin), a widely used 2nd year French textbook in the US and abroad. She is the Director of the SJSU Examination Center for DELF-DALF and CCIP exams. She has served three terms as President of the American Association of Teachers of French /NC and she is currently serving as an elected member of the executive committee of ADFL (national Association of Department of Foreign Languages). She is a Knight in the Order of the French Academic Palms.
