ScWk 180 International Social Work and Developing Countries

Description

This 16-hour, 1-unit class will be an introductory survey of theory, practice and policy is they relate to social work in developing or newly-industrialized nations. The class topics will include a) major theories and the context of social work in developing countries, b) children, youth and family issues in developing countries, c) health/mental health policy and practice in developing countries, and d) comparative service systems and organizations. The topics will be discussed within the Transcultural Perspective of the School of Social Work. There are no pre-requisites for this class.
