Expertise Summary
Katherine D. Harris primarily works with British Romantic-era literature (1770-1840), 19th-century literature & culture. Though her historical field is limited, her interests range far afield through the lens of women's authorship, feminist theory, women's studies, bibliography, history of the book, textual studies and especially digital/hypertextual studies and 21st-century popular culture. She's very interested in the recent debates about Google's massive digitizing projects and has engaged in several conferences concerning the topic. Her work includes the digitization of nineteenth-century texts, which requires Katherine to keep abreast of the latest technological standards, including the Text Encoding Initiative and new mark-up languages. This collaborative project involves working with several other universities and institutions not only as a project manager but also as a discussant in the future of the online scholarly project.
