Quantum Mechanics (263)

Time: Mon, Wed.; 12:00-1:15pm

Location: SCI 242

Description

This is a one semester, graduate-level course; it can also serve as a second semester undergraduate course. While some prior familiarity with the subject is assumed, this course will begin at the foundations of quantum theory. We will review the quantum formalism, the harmonic oscillator, spin, and angular momentum. Then we will examine multiple particles and perturbation theory, as well as important physical applications (The periodic table, fine structure, emission and absorption of radiation, etc.).
