Lee Gilmore specializes in the study of ritual, new religious movements, new media, and religion and nature. The author of Theater in a Crowded Fire: Ritual and Spirituality at Burning Man (University of California Press, 2010), her other publications include AfterBurn: Reflections on Burning Man (University of New Mexico Press, 2005), co-edited with Mark Van Proyen. She previously taught Religion & Anthropology at California State University, Northridge, and finished her PhD in Cultural & Historical Studies of Religions at the Graduate Theological Union in 2005.
