Multidisciplinary interpretation and evaluation of consumer health issues. Impact of cultural variables (including communication methods, socioeconomic status and traditional beliefs) on health and illness. Interaction of individuals in families and other groups.
This course deals with a multidisciplinary examination of culturally related consumer health issues. This includes the impact of cultural variables (e.g. communication methods, socioeconomic status, and traditional beliefs) on health and illness. The course is designed to improve student understanding and competency in the area of self, society, and equality in the U.S. with special emphasis on multicultural health beliefs and practices.
