Pedagogical Philosophy: My courses provide students with the skills to speak in a public forum and give them the practical benefits of using these skills in a variety of communication contexts that occur beyond the classroom. My goal is to challenge, encourage, and inspire them to use what they’ve learned in my classes to enrich their human experiences in their personal, academic, and professional lives. Living in a democratic society means being able to practice our right to free speech. Free speech becomes more meaningful when we are able to express ourselves competently and eloquently. My classes are opportunities for students to learn about and engage in public speaking, small group communication, critical decision making and problem solving, writing workshop, and interpersonal communication. I look forward to working with you!

Bio
I'm proud to be a Viking and a Spartan. I hold an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and a Speech Certificate from West Valley College as well as Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from San Jose State University. I have taught communication courses at Gavilan College, at West Valley College, and at San Jose State University for over a decade. I enjoy helping students learn how to better listen to others, speak with others, and engage others in their everyday encounters and interactions.
