Shaum P. Bhagat, Ph.D., CCC-A, F-AAA, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences at San Jose State University. Previously, Dr. Bhagat taught at the University of Memphis, and he served as Director of the Hearing Science Research Laboratory (HSRL). The research conducted in the HSRL focused on examining otoacoustic emissions, or sounds emitted from human cochleae. Topics investigated in the HSRL provided insights into the effects of acoustic experiences and ototoxic medications on cochlear function and hearing.
Dr. Bhagat has published peer-reviewed journal articles in The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, Hearing Research, Audiology and Neurotology, International Journal of Audiology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Pediatric Blood and Cancer, and the Journal of the American Academy of Audiology.
Dr. Bhagat enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, reading, going to movies, and watching college sporting events.
