MUSE 11B - Catastrophic Events
Supplemental URL: http://www.engr.sjsu.edu/tanagnos/
Description
In this freshman seminar students explore how catastrophic events adversely affect the natural and constructed environment. An earthquake could cause the interruption of water and wastewater treatment processes leading to epidemics; or the loss of vegetation from a fire leads to erosion, and ultimately, landslides. Civil engineers create many of the solutions necessary to minimize the impacts and restore quality of life. Students use basic science and engineering principles to create solutions to specific scenarios.
