Applying to the MA Programme

Applying to the MA programme entails the following:

1. File an online application with the University.

Go to: sjsu.edu
locate "quick links"
click on "apply to SJSU"

2. Have official transcripts of previous university work sent to:

Office of Graduate Admissions
San Jose State University
One Washington Square
San Jose, CA 95192-0016

3. Have three letters of recommendation sent to:

Graduate Committee
Department of Philosophy
San Jose State University
One Washington Square
San Jose, CA 95192-0096

Additional materials (exam scores, writing sample, etc.) are not required, but can be submitted to the Department's Graduate Committee as optional supplementary material.

The online application contains a section for a "statement of purpose." This statement should include an account of the applicant's philosophical background, philosophical interests, and reasons for pursuing graduate study in philosophy.
