Sanchez, Carlos
Bio: Carlos Alberto Sanchez received his PhD from the University of New Mexico in 2006. His current research focuses on Existentialism and Phenomenology in 20th century Mexico, particularly on the work of the post-War philosophical group Hiperión. He has published in Human Studies, Southwest Philosophical Studies, and the Newsletter for Hispanic/Latino Issues in Philosophy. Papers in phenomenology and Mexican philosophy are forthcoming in Continental Philosophy Review, Dissidences: A Hispanic Journal of Theory and Criticism, and the Indo-Pacific Journal of Phenomenology. Aside from membership in professional organizations including the Society for Phenomenology and Existentialism, the American Philosophical Association, the Society for Phenomenology and the Human Sciences, the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy & CLAFEN (Circulo Latinamerican de Fenomenologia), professor Sanchez serves on the Executive Committee of SJSU's Center for Comparative Philosophy and sits on the Board of Directors of CET, the Centers for Employment Training in San Jose, CA. Dr. Sanchez is the recipient of the 2006 American Philosophical Association's Essay Prize in Latin American Thought, the beneficiary of the 2006 US Department of Education's Council for Opportunity in Education "TRIO Achievers Award," and has been awarded a 2007 & 2008 Summer Research Fellowship by the California State University. Besides research and teaching, Carlos dabbles in Parenthood under the unpredictable direction of his son Julian and the invaluable companionship of his wife Alicia. Curriculum Vitae
