“Skepticism about the possibility of metaphysics, the collapse of the belief in a universal philosophy as the guide for the new man, actually represents a collapse of the belief in “reason” understood as the ancients opposed episteme to doxa .” -- Edmund Husserl

Bio:

Phil Williamson was born in Prunedale, California and has lived in the High Desert of Southern California as well as rural eastern Pennsylvania. He went to work immediately upon graduating high school, but began taking classes at Community College. Before working with his mind teaching philosophy, Phil worked with his hands as a laborer, heavy equipment operator, and installer for hardwood and vinyl flooring.

He transferred to San Jose State to finish his BA in philosophy and continued at San Jose State for the MA, which he received (also in philosophy) in May 2006.

Phil’s research interests in philosophy include topics in phenomenology and existentialism, philosophy of religion, and ancient Greek philosophy. Outside of his academic interests, Phil enjoys painting (watercolor and oils), woodworking, camping and fly-fishing.
