SJSU students are eligible to spend the spring semester in the state capitol interning with a member of the state legislature or a lobbyist while earning units of credit through CSU - Sacramento. The Tom Truax Internship, honoring a well known lobbyist and SJSU alumnus, is available exclusively for help fund SJSU students taking part in the the Sacramento Semester Program.

Students interested in the Tom Truax Sacramento Semester Internship should submit a completed application to the department by the end of October.

Applicants for the Tom Truax Sacramento Semester Sacramento Semester Internship should submit the following to the department by mid-February:

  • A resume
  • A transcript
  • An essay describing one's interest in the Tom Truax Sacramento Semester Sacramento Semester Internship
  • A graded essay from an SJSU class (minimum 3 pages)
  • A list of three SJSU faculty references
