Dr. Lawrence Quill joined the faculty at San José State in 2005. He has a special interest in political theory and was a contributor to both The Routledge Encyclopedia of Democratic Thought (London, Routledge, 2001) and The Routledge Encyclopedia of British Culture (London, Routledge, 2003). He is the author of Liberty after Liberalism (London, Macmillan, 2006) and Civil Disobedience: (Un)Common Sense in Mass Democracies (London, Macmillan, 2009).He earned a PhD in Government from the University of Essex, U.K in 2000. His next book, Secrets and Democracy: From Arcana Imperii to Wikileaks, will be released this Fall. His current research focuses on the changing nature of statehood, and the impact of technological unemployment in developed and developing socities.
