PADM 212 - Administrative Research Methods

The purpose of this course is to familiarize the student with techniques, and applications of social science research in the context of public administration. With an emphasis on quantitative, survey-derived data analysis, the research process is examined from hypothesis construction and research design to data analysis and report writing. In doing so, the class will be exposed to several applications for microcomputers, including spread sheets, data base management, and statistical software. Also considered are several non-quantitative approaches to administrative research. An important purpose of the course is to get the class comfortable with statistical issues that are relevant to many research designs, so that they may be educated consumers of policy research.
