Scholarships for Interns in Sacramento and Washington, D.C.

Tom Truax Sacramento semester SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNSHIPS at THE STATE CAPITOL

SJSU students of any major are eligible to spend the spring semester in the state capitol interning with a member of the state legislature or a lobbyist while earning 12 units of credit through CSU - Sacramento. Scholarships are available through the Sacramento Semester Program. In addition, the Tom Truax Scholarship honoring a well known lobbyist and SJSU alumnus, is available exclusively for SJSU students.

INTERN IN WASHINGTON, DC

everett, nancy, and phyllis Ward washington internship scholarship

Washington, DC Scholarships ($3,000 or more). The Political Science Department administers two scholarships for internships in Congress in Washington, DC. A summer scholarship of $3,000 is for political science majors only (3-6 units). Graduating seniors may apply. The scholarship will help pay for housing, SJSU fees, travel, etc.

The application deadline for Summer 2013 is February 8, 2013 to the Department of Political Science, Clark 471. For more information, phone the Political Science office.

Applications for Summer 2013 Internship Scholarship in Washington, DC should include:

  • Resume
  • An essay on why you want to intern with Congress
  • Transcript
  • A graded paper from one of your classes (min. 3 pages)
  • SJSU Faculty References (letters are not required)

The Panetta Institute Congressional Internships

A scholarship for a fully-funded internship in Washington through the Panetta Institute in the Fall Semester is available for SJSU students of any major (12-20 units through CSU-Monterey Bay).
