Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer
Bob H. Lim
Bob H. Lim (curriculum vitae) has been named as SJSU’s vice president for information technology and chief information officer. Bob will serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet. His first day at SJSU will be June 30.
Bob brings extensive experience as a strategically-focused IT leader in public higher education; significant expertise in all aspects of planning, implementing and sustaining enterprise-level information technology and computing services; and a strong track record of utilizing technology in the service of students, faculty and the wider university community.
For the past six years, Bob served as chief information officer at the University of Kansas. There, he was responsible for developing, delivering and supporting a vast array of services, systems and applications supporting the information needs of 27,000 students, 9,000 faculty and staff members while leading a team of more than 300 full-time staff and managing an operating budget exceeding $36 million.
Bob earlier served in a similar capacity at the University of Texas-Pan American, a mid-sized campus in the large UT system, affording him perspectives that will be uniquely valuable to him and to SJSU. Beyond academic technology leadership positions, Bob’s prior professional experience in the private sector will be invaluable to SJSU as it seeks partnership opportunities in Silicon Valley.
SJSU community members were especially impressed by Bob’s infectious enthusiasm and
strong affinity for the mission of the CSU—partly due to his own experience as an
undergraduate student at San Francisco State.
