Dr. Reginald Blaylock
For more than 27 years, Dr. Blaylock has supported student success at San Diego State University. As the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Blaylock oversees 10 departments with combined annual budgets of more than $20.4 million within the Division of Student Affairs. These departments: Compact for Success & Collaborative Programs; Counseling & Psychological Services; Educational Opportunity Programs and Ethnic Affairs (EOP); Guardian Scholars; Health Promotion; the International Student Center; Student Affairs Development; Student-Athlete Academic Support Services; Student Health Services, and Student Disability Services consistently deliver measurable results and noticeably impact the lives of students.
In addition to managing and directing his departments, Dr. Blaylock is instrumentally involved in more than a dozen campuswide committees, including several tasked with spearheading campus strategic initiatives. These committees include the Aztec Scholars Initiative, which works to recruit and retain African American and American Indian students underrepresented in SDSU’s student population and Enhancing Campus Culture and Climate for Persons of Varying Abilities, which is focused on physical and campus culture improvements to better serve the disabled within the campus community.
Dr. Blaylock is invested in securing monetary support for impactful student programs and services. In the past five years, he has raised more than $5.4 million dollars for student affairs initiatives.
He has a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, with an emphasis in postsecondary education, as well as a bachelor and master’s degree in Public Administration from SDSU. Dr. Blaylock also teaches in the Master’s Program in Educational Leadership at SDSU.
