Dr. Richard Barnhouse
Dr. Rich Barnhouse began his appointment as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student
Affairs and Enrollment Management at the University of Wisconsin Colleges in July
2011. The University of Wisconsin Colleges is a single institution comprised of 13
campuses throughout the state and enrolls approximately 14,000 degree seeking students
and 28,000 non-degree seeking students. As the senior and chief student affairs officer,
Barnhouse is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for all student affairs
and enrollment management departments throughout the institution, some of these responsibilities
include; the registrar, admissions, recruitment, advising, financial aid, veterans
services, marketing and university relations, disability services, student life, academic
and non-academic misconduct, alcohol and other drug education programs, TRIO programs,
multi-cultural programs, pre-college programs, residence life/halls, student activities,
student government, student mental health services, athletics, grant programs, and
other student related services.
Prior to his current appointment, from 2007-2011, Barnhouse served as the Dean of Students at Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. From 2004-2007 he served as the Assistant Campus Dean for Administrative Services at the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Barnhouse has also served in student affairs capacities at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina and at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
Barnhouse received his Ph.D. in education and leadership from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He earned a Master of Arts degree in sport administration from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, and a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education/Exercise Physiology from Brock University in Ontario, Canada.
