Since 2006, Dr. Betty J. Roberts has served as the vice president for administration and finance, University of Central Missouri. Her responsibilities include oversight of the university's fiscal and administrative operations, including budget, accounting, payroll, accounts payable, student accounts, human resources, facilities planning and operations, public safety, procurement/materials management, risk management, university stores, and hazardous materials management. Most recently she has received national attention for developing and implementing at UCM one of the largest energy retrofit projects in higher education, totaling $36.1 million in facilities improvements.

Dr. Roberts’ career in higher education administration spans more than 30 years.  She has held the positions of associate vice president for technology, University of Houston; assistant vice president for business operations, The Pennsylvania State University, and director of business operations for the University of Missouri System.

Dr. Roberts currently serves on the board of directors of the Kansas City Urban League, the board of trustees of Cazenovia College, the supervisory board of the Missouri Credit Union, as vice president of the Committee of Missouri State Higher Education Business Officers, and on the Financing Committee of the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment.

She is a member of the Society for College and University Planning, the National Association of College and University Business Officers, and Societas Docta, a mentoring non-profit for advancing the educational goals of minority women pursuing terminal degrees, among other organizations.

She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Administrative Excellence Award from The Pennsylvania State University, and UCM’s Outstanding Woman in Higher Education Administration.  She has been a featured speaker at numerous conferences and events on a variety of subjects, including sustainability in education, implementing e-procurement as a cost-saving measure, and creating administrative efficiencies.
