Whitmore is in Long Beach today attending his first California State University Board of Trustees meeting. He took a few minutes out of the bi-monthly meeting to offer his first impressions of the board as SJSU president.
"The CSU's trustees are dedicated public servants. They work to support a healthy state budget for higher education -- no easy task. They care enough about students who don't have the means to go to college to find ways to make those hard journeys possible. And, they realize that higher education will be the primary driver of the state's economy going forward. I am happy to be rolling up my sleeves and joining the quest for building a better California."
