President Whitmore donned an apron recently to experience one of the most critical campus services -- the Market Cafe coffee counter.

The president waited on a steady stream of customers during his continuing effort to get to know SJSU by working beside employees. After a bit of training, he deftly kept the line moving, aided by Market Cafe Lead Joanna Lee, who wrote the following.
"President Whitmore learned the key to starting the day right at SJSU: a good cup of coffee served by a friendly face. He had the opportunity to meet and work alongside several of our student employees. He was very personable and interested in learning how they do their jobs. President Whitmore even noted that his daughter has been working at a cafe for the last few months. I think it's great that he's seeing the university from so many different perspectives."
