Inauguration
A Unique Moment In Our History
On April 20, San Jose State had its first presidential inauguration since 1995. It was a time to recognize the talent and potential of the dreamers, innovators and high achievers in our university community.
Creating SJSU's Future
President Qayoumi’s inauguration is about more than the investiture of a single individual. It is a way for our entire community to come together and reflect upon our collective role in creating SJSU’s future.
Celebrating A New Chapter
The inauguration of a new president is a celebration of both the university’s 155 years of tradition and the possibilities for transformation that new leadership brings.
Presidential Inauguration, Friday, April 20, 2012
On April 20, 2012, Mohammad H. Qayoumi will be formally invested as the 28th president of San José State University. Ceremonies will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Event Center on campus, with an all-campus celebration to follow in front of the Event Center. We invite all members of our community – students, faculty and staff members, alumni, parents, neighbors and friends – to help us celebrate this occasion.
President Qayoumi served as president of Cal State East Bay from 2006 to 2011. He arrived at Cal State East Bay from Cal State Northridge, where he served as vice president for administration and finance and chief financial officer from 2000 to 2006, and was also a tenured professor of engineering management.
