PD-1980-03

March 26, 1980

To: All Faculty, Staff, and Administrative Employees
From: President Gail Fullerton
Subject: All University Meeting Regarding Proposition 9

The anxiety and uncertainty that most of us are feeling with regard to the possible impact of Proposition 9 on our budget next year are beginning to affect the way we feel about ourselves and our University. I am scheduling a meeting for 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 1980 in Spartan Gym to discuss what we do know and what we can reasonably assume would be the impact of Proposition 9, and what alternatives we may have.

Classes meeting during that period of time may be dismissed so that faculty and students can attend the meeting, unless in the judgment of the instructor there is a compelling academic reason for a particular class to meet. (Some classes meet only on Thursday afternoons, for example, and that might be considered a compelling academic reason. There may be other reasons as compelling.) Classes meeting before or after the time period specified should meet as usual.

Provided that essential services are maintained, employees of the support staff and administration are invited to attend the meeting. Proposition 9 will potentially affect us all.
