Subject: President's Annual Scholar's Address
It gives me a great deal of pleasure to inform you that the recipient of the Eighth President's Annual Scholar Award is Dr. Edgar Anderson, Professor of History, on our campus.
Professor Anderson studied at the University of Riga, Julius-Maximilian University Wurzburg, University of Leiden, University of Pennsylvania, and received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1956. Dr. Anderson has been teaching at San José State University since 1957. He has lectured extensively in Europe, Australia, Canada, South America, and the West Indies. He has published fourteen books, twenty-seven chapters in books by other authors, sixty-six articles in American and European scholarly journals, and ninety reviews in American and European scholarly journals.
I hope you will join with our University colleagues in honoring Professor Anderson by attending his lecture entitled "The United States and the Soviet Union in the 1980s" to be held Thursday, April 2, 1981, at 4 p.m. in the Loma Prieta Room of the Student Union.
