Subject: President's Annual Scholar Address

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the recipient of the Ninth Annual President's Scholar Award is Professor Juana V. Acrivos.

Professor Acrivos has taught at San José State University since 1963, has done research in Cambridge, England's Cavendish Laboratory, and the Stanford Linear Accelerator. She has won thirteen research grants for her study of metals, molecular complexes, and other substances, and she is widely recognized as an outstanding teacher.

I hope you will join me and other members of the University community in honoring Professor Acrivos by attending her President's Annual Scholar lecture entitled "The Impact of Solid State Science in Our Society." She will give the lecture on April 21 at 4:00 p.m. in the Loma Prieta Room of the Student Union.
