Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Amy Strage as Assistant Vice President for Faculty Development and Director, Center for Faculty Development, effective April 14, 2014. Dr. Strage has served as the Interim Director for the Center for Faculty Development since 2011. In that time, she has become instrumental in developing and implementing numerous faculty development programs, several of which have garnered national attention. Dr. Strage is committed to supporting the professional development of our faculty throughout their careers at SJSU.

The mission of the Center is to "provide opportunities for growth and renewal for faculty in all realms of their professional lives and throughout the stages of their careers, and to help create a campus culture that values intellectual inquiry and scholarly and creative engagement in its many forms." With her strong record of teaching, service to our university, and scholarship, I am confident that Dr. Strage will uphold this mission and continue to evolve the Center into one of the best faculty development programs in the CSU.

In addition to her involvement with faculty development, Dr. Strage has been a faculty member for more than 25 years, teaching at SFSU and SJSU in the Department of Child and Adolescent Development. In 2010, she received the SJSU Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Strage holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Barnard College, Columbia University and a PhD in Psychology from UC Berkeley.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Amy Strage. I look forward to her continued work in this vital area of our shared success.
