Sandeep Muju

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Sandeep Muju as executive director of the SJSU Research Foundation, effective June 15, 2015.

Dr. Muju possesses strong academic credentials but also brings with him a global perspective and an entrepreneurial spirit as a leader of multinational Fortune 500 corporations.

He completed a master’s in engineering mechanics (civil) from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, followed by a PhD in mechanical engineering from The Ohio State Universityin Columbus.  He completed an MBA at the Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and Six Sigma Black Belt certification during his tenure with Honeywell Aerospace.

Dr. Muju worked as a research and teaching associate while conducting his graduate coursework from 1989 to 1995. Upon completing his PhD, he shifted to the private sector where he transitioned from working as an engineer into management assignments. His career highlights include research and development for Honeywell (AlliedSignal) Aerospace; oversight of strategic planning for a $1 billion electronics company with 6,000+ employees at Moser Baer India; and advising Fortune 500 companies on transforming their business performance at KPMG.

Since 2012, he has worked with the University of Southern California to facilitate several partnerships, including collaborations between the Viterbi School of Engineering and Honeywell Advanced Manufacturing and a Vitervi-IIT research and teaching exchange memorandum of understanding. He has also been a member of USC Children’s Hospital’s CCI Institutional Research Board group for clinical investigations.

The SJSU Research Foundation is one of the largest providers of research and public services to local, national and international agencies through externally funded programs and activities led by SJSU faculty. Dr. Muju’s diverse experience in higher education and the private sector provide him with a unique perspective that will move the research goals of our faculty forward while identifying new ways to collaborate.

I am confident that the SJSU community and SJSU Research Foundation partners will find Dr. Muju to be a capable, innovative and insightful leader. Please join me in welcoming him to SJSU and the SJSU Research Foundation.

Sincerely,
