Dr. Camille Johnson joined the Office of the Provost as the chief operations manager on Jan. 23, 2017. The position provides support for the strategic initiatives of the Provost’s office, oversight of operational functions, and works closely with deans, AVPs and other units.
Johnson joins the office from the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business, where she was a professor in the School of Management and director of accreditation. In addition to teaching regularly in the undergraduate and MBA programs, she has developed and applied her expertise in leadership, management, and organizational development through her service to the university. She was part of the Vision 2017 Strategic Planning initiative and led SJSU's re-accreditation efforts as faculty chair of the WASC Steering Committee. In that role, she coordinated the efforts of faculty and staff from every division of the university to create a coherent and vision-driven report for WASC.
She has a bachelor’s in psychology from Carleton College, a master’s in applied social psychology from Claremont Graduate University and a doctorate in psychology from The Ohio State University, with a major area of study in social psychology and a minor area of study in quantitative psychology. She also served as a post-doctoral research associate at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. Her research has been published in the top journals in her field of social psychology and her research interests include first-generation college student performance, social comparison, and interracial interactions.
