Frequently Asked Questions

The Honors Convocation is an event in which San José State University recognizes its students who have earned the title of President’s Scholars or Dean’s Scholars.

A President’s Scholar is an undergraduate student who has earned a 4.0 grade point average at San José State University in at least two contiguous semesters of the three semesters prior to the Honors Convocation.

A Dean’s Scholar is an undergraduate student who has earned a 3.65 or higher grade point average at San José State University in at least two contiguous semesters of the three semesters prior to the Honors Convocation.

The 49th Annual Honors Convocation was held in the San José State University Event Center at 6:00 p.m., on Friday, April 29, 2011.

The Event Center is located on the corner of South 7th and San Salvador streets.

Complimentary parking is available to honorees and guests at the 4th and 7th Street Parking Garages. No parking passes are required.

You should arrive 45 mins. prior to the event to allow time for parking and check-in.

If you have graduated, you are still invited to attend.

If you are not able to attend, your certificate will be mailed to you after the event. If you do not receive it within a month of the event, please contact your college office.

The Office of the Provost is located in the Administration building, room 174. The Administration building is located on the north side of campus on the corner of 7th and San Fernando Streets.

Upon arrival, honorees must check in with an event staff member at the registration table. You do not need an ID, just provide your full name and you will receive your honors certificate. You will then be ushered to your seat where you will be seated with your college.

Business casual is the suggested attire.

Light refreshments will be provided to all persons in attendance immediately following the ceremony.

Honorees will be seated on the main floor. Family and guests will be seated in tiered seating.  Please make arrangements for children to be seated with friends or relatives. 

The ceremony will last approximately 1 hour.

You can invite as many guests as you would like, however, we will need to have a headcount to ensure that sufficient seating and refreshments are available. So, please RSVP by Friday, April 15, 2011.
