Administrative Reorganization

Effective Fall 2005, the combined Social Work Programs (BSW and MSW) will be elevated to a School of Social Work in the College of Applied Sciences and the Arts.  In addition, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, the Departments of African American Studies and Mexican American Studies will join the College of Social Sciences.  (Posted 10/25/05)

Appointment of Dean, University Library

Ruth Kifer was announced as the new dean of the University Library on August 12, 2005. She will assume her on campus duties October 1, 2005. Ms. Kifer earned her JD from University of Baltimore, School of Law, and her MA from University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA. She comes to us from George Mason University, Fairfax VA, where she has been the Associate University Librarian for Distributed Libraries.  (Posted 8/30/05)

Appointment of Dean, College of Applied Sciences & Arts

Dr. Inger Sagatun-Edwards was announced as the new dean for the College of Applied Sciences & Arts on June 24, 2005. Her appointment is effective July 1, 2005. Dr. Sagatun-Edwards was a Professor of Justice Studies at San Jose State, served as chair of that department since 1993. She was recently awarded the SJSU President's Scholar for her research and work in the areas of child abuse and domestic violence.  (Posted 7/11/05)

Appointment of Associate Vice President, Graduate Studies & Research

Dr. Pam Stacks was appointed Associate Vice President for Graduate Studies & Research following a national search. Dr. Stacks has been serving as the Interim AVP for Graduate Studies & Research since August 2003. Pam Stacks will begin the position permanently on June 1, 2005.  (Posted 6/10/05)
