It is with pleasure that I announce the appointment of Dr. Dennis Jaehne as the Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Studies.  He will assume his duties effective July 13, 2009

Dr. Jaehne has been a faculty member in the Department of Communication Studies since 1989 and has served as chair since 1997.  He also assumed leadership responsibility as chair and co-chair of the University Council of Chairs and Directors for the past nine years.  He has led three study abroad programs to Bath, England, as well as two summer programs.  As a past Salzburg Fellow he coordinated the SJSU Salzburg Scholars Program.

Dr. Jaehne is well recognized in the profession of Communication Studies for his scholarship, professional contributions and leadership in the area of Communication and Global Citizenship: Environmental Communication; Rhetoric and Public Discourse.  In addition, he has represented the university community through his service and leadership on various university committees.

Dr. Jaehne earned his BA degree in German Language and Literature from Brigham Young University, MA and PhD in Communication from the University of Utah.
