RE: My Retirement
Dear colleagues, I am writing to you today to let you know that I will be retiring this coming summer. As you can imagine, this has been a most difficult decision for me because I love San José State University.
San José State has been my professional home for more than two decades and through the years I have had the privilege of serving the university in many capacities. However, what I treasure most is having had the opportunity of being your colleague.
Some of you may be wondering what is in store for me in the next academic year. Well, I look forward to spending more time with Rob, my husband of forty-two years. I’ll be doing some scholarly research and, perhaps, teaching, as well as continuing my community work. But all of that is in the future.
For now, I look forward to continuing to work with you. We have a full agenda of projects moving forward and the challenge of managing them through this period of constrained budgets. I appreciate the efforts of all of you as we work to advance the mission of the university.
With gratitude,
Carmen
