Campus Reading Program The "Wall of Reading" |
||
What is the "Wall of Reading?"This is an annual spring event created by the SJSU Campus Reading Program in 2007. It is an opportunity to publicly share our experiences about books. A public wall on campus is covered with a scroll with books noted (and space to add any you think are missing) where you can leave a comment about the books you've read and find out what others think about the books. It provides great ideas of books to add to your reading list. It is an opportunity for our campus community to share ideas about books and help build and maintain our Culture of Reading at SJSU. Spring 2008 "Wall of Reading"The theme for the Second Annual Wall of Reading is - Books Made Into Movies. The scroll is in the Clark Hall lobby from February 28 through April 1, 2008. Please stop by to share your comments on books made into movies and see what others have said. Some of the books/movies you'll see on the scroll are Frankenstein, The Devil Wears Prada, Gone with the Wind, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and the Godfather.
Spring 2007 "Wall of Reading"
The Campus Reading Program's first "Wall of Reading" event was held in February and March 2007. In honor of SJSU's 150th anniversary in 2007, this event was focused on great novels of the past 150 years. A scroll for every decade back to 1857 was hung on the 1st floor walls of Clark Hall. Each scroll listed the great novels of that decade with space for people to sign or leave a comment for the books they had read. It was also an opportunity for people to learn about these great novels and see which they wanted to add to their reading list. You can see the list of over 400 novels in any of the following orders: There were also book discussions and other events during the week of February 26 (see below or pdf) Monday
