Visitor and Concurrent Enrollment

 

  • Visitor Enrollment : attend classes at another CSU campus for one term instead of at SJSU (you may visit for one term only).
  • Concurrent Enrollment : attend another CSU campus while enrolled in classes at SJSU.
  • Cross Enrollment: attend a University of California campus or participating California Community College while enrolled in classes at SJSU.

Visitor Enrollment (outgoing SJSU students)

 

Students who have completed one Fall or Spring semester at SJSU and are in good academic standing may be eligible to visit one of our 22 CSU sister campuses for one term of academic work. You must meet the following requirements and conditions in order to participate in this program:

Undergraduate Student Requirements

    • Complete at least 12 units at SJSU.
    • Attend SJSU the semester prior to the term in which you are pursuing visitor enrollment.
    • Have a GPA of at least 2.0 in all work completed at SJSU.
    • Be in good academic standing.

Graduate Student Requirements

    • Complete one semester at SJSU.
    • Have a GPA of at least 3.0 in all work completed at SJSU.
    • Be in good academic standing.

Conditions for Enrollment

    • Students will be approved for Visitor Enrollment for one term only .
    • Approval is subject to space availability, registration priority policies and deadlines of the host campus.
    • Academic advisement is available only through SJSU.
    • Overlap in academic terms may not be possible. Check with the host campus.
    • Students may be required to provide proof of completion of prerequisites.
    • Financial Aid is available only through SJSU.
    • Students enrolled through Open University are not eligible for Visitor Enrollment.

The Visitor Application is available for download or at the Registrar’s Office, Window R, in the Student Services Center.

 

The completed application should be submitted to the Registrar’s Office a minimum of 30 days before the start of the term at the host campus.  You must contact the campus that you wish to attend for registration deadlines and procedures.

Cross Enrollment (outgoing SJSU students)

 

If you are a California resident currently enrolled at SJSU, you may be eligible to enroll in one undergraduate course per academic term at a participating University of California campus or California Community College . You must meet the necessary course prerequisites and obtain approval from both SJSU and the campus you plan to attend.  You must meet the following requirements and conditions in order to participate in this program:

Conditions for Enrollment

    • Must be a California resident
    • Must have completed at least one term as a matriculated student at SJSU.
    • Have maintained a 2.0 GPA in all work completed.
    • Be in good academic standing.
    • Be enrolled in at least 6 units at SJSU for the term in which you plan to cross enroll.
    • Have paid the appropriate fees at SJSU for the term in which you plan to cross enroll.
    • Students enrolled through Open University are not eligible for Cross Enrollment.

Special Notes:

  • Enrollment is limited to one class at the host campus.
  • Graduate students are not eligible for Cross Enrollment.

The host campus will charge a $10 fee plus any material and laboratory fees associated with the class in which you cross enroll. Use of the host campus' facilities may be restricted; health services are limited to emergencies only. You must contact the campus that you wish to attend for registration deadlines and procedures.

 

The Cross Enrollment Application is available for download or at the Registrar’s Office, Window R, in the Student Services Center.

 

The completed application should be submitted to the Registrar’s Office a minimum of 30 days before the start of the term at the host campus.  You must contact the campus that you wish to attend for registration deadlines and procedures.

 

 

Enrolling at San Jose State University From Other Institutions

 

Download the Visitor/Concurrent Enrollment application and check with your home campus for their eligibility requirements and procedures.

 

Visitor and Concurrent Enrollment (incoming students)

  • Approval is subject to space availability, SJSU registration priority policies and SJSU deadlines.
  • Academic advisement is available only through the home campus.
  • Overlap in academic terms may not be possible.
  • Students may be required to provide proof of completion of prerequisites to the academic department of the course requested.
  • Financial Aid is available only through the home campus.

In addition to meeting the above conditions, students must satisfy the following CSU criteria at their home campus:

  • Have earned at least 12 units.
  • Have a 2.0 GPA.
  • Be in good academic standing.
  • Be eligible to register under continuing student status.
  • Have paid fees (Concurrent students only).

Concurrent Enrollment is allowed for more than one term, however, students must submit a new Intrasystem Application form for each term of Concurrent Enrollment.

 

Approval for Visitor enrollment is valid for one term only.

 

The completed Intrasystem Visitor or Concurrent Application form must be certified by your home campus and submitted to the Registrar’s Office at SJSU by the following deadlines:

  • Summer 2008: May 23, 2008
  • Fall 2008: August 15, 2008
  • Spring 2009: January 9, 2009

Cross Enrollment (incoming students)

 

To attend SJSU through the Cross Enrollment program, download the Cross Enrollment Application and obtain the appropriate approvals from your home campus.

 

Once your Cross Enrollment application has been approved by your home campus, bring the form to SJSU and:

  • Attend the first class session and ask the instructor if there is space available to enroll through Cross Enrollment; if so:
  • Have the instructor sign your Cross Enrollment Application.
  • Get a permission number from the instructor.
  • Submit your approved and signed application to the Registrar’s Office, Window R, in the Student Services Center .
  • Allow 5-7 business days for your application to be processed and to receive a User ID and Password for the online registration system, http://my.sjsu.edu/
  • Add your class online using the permission number from your instructor by the add deadline .
  • Pay the $10 fee plus any material or laboratory fees associated with the class by the payment deadline .

Special Notes:

  • Enrollment is limited to one class at SJSU.
  • Graduate students are not eligible for Cross Enrollment.
