Under the regulations defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act(FERPA) and San Jose State University, you have the choice to restrict directory information from being released without your consent. SJSU has defined enrollment and degree verification information as the only directory information available. All other information is already protected and will not be provided without your written consent.
To edit your FERPA/Directory restrictions:
Log into your MySJSU, under the “Personal Information” banner, click on the link titled “User Preferences”, click on the “Security” tab, and then click on the green “Edit FERPA/Directory” button.
To be used by students wishing to give a designated person (usually a parent) access to their Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protected academic records. Please note that this authorization will be in effect until the student submits, in writing, a letter requesting that it be reversed.
