Explorations in Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity (ExRSCA)
The Center for Faculty Development partners with units across the campus, including the Office of Research, Peer Connections, the University Library and others, to provide opportunities for faculty to include undergraduate students in their research, scholarly and creative activities. These kinds of experiences can be enormously valuable for students and faculty alike.
The Explorations in Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity (ExRSCA) program is designed to promote students’ success by providing them with structured support from peers, mentors, and faculty as they engage with the university “beyond the classroom” and consider possible career options. It offers students the opportunity to enrich their undergraduate experience at SJSU by working closely with a faculty member on a research project or creative activity. More specifically, enables students to
- Explore a topic of interest in greater detail
- Build confidence as they move forward in their academic pursuits
- Discover potential career options
- Enhance their engagement with the campus as they work closely with a faculty member
The program also provides faculty with the opportunity view their work (and the potential of their faculty role) from a fresh perspective.
