Funding Support

The Office of Research, the Center for Faculty Development, the SJSU Research Foundation, and the SJSU Tower Foundation collaborate to offer a variety of resources designed to assist faculty in honing their research interests and crafting grant proposals. The support and services provided by each of these offices are listed below. Some services may overlap because each office may be responsible for different aspects of processing a grant application or we may work together to provide instructional materials.

Center for Faculty Development Support

The Center for Faculty Development provides grant writing support through topic-centered working groups and other workshops.

National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD)

Visit the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD) website to take advantage of individual member benefits, including a core curriculum of monthly webinars, a series of online multi-week courses, a discussion forum where faculty can exchange ideas and professional productivity strategies with peers at institutions from across the nation, and a weekly “Monday Motivator” newsletter.

Project Administration Guide

This valuable guide outlines general responsibilities, presents an overview of project management and provides PIs and their staff with policies, documentation, and forms. This guide is a must-read for those starting the grant process for the first time.

Sponsored Program Managers

Each of the Research Foundation's sponsored programs managers is responsible for supporting grant information for faculty members in one or more specific colleges or programs.

Research Foundation Workshops

The Research Foundation regularly presents workshops on grant development, grant writing, and research compliance training for SJSU faculty and staff.

SJSU Tower Foundation Support

Part of the University Advancement Division, the Tower Foundation is SJSU's auxiliary organization dedicated solely to philanthropy. Tower assists with the development, administration, and banking of SJSU philanthropic donations from alumni, friends of the university, corporations, and foundations.  The University's Corporate & Foundation Relations team collaborates with faculty and the Tower Foundation on creation and submission of gift and grant proposals to corporations and foundations.
