A Selection of Medical Plans
Eligible benefited employees whose appointments are at least 50% time and are expected to exceed six months are eligible to receive medical insurance. Coverage goes into effect on the first day of the month following start date, depending upon timely submission of completed forms to Research Foundation Human Resources.
An employee participating in the medical plan of his or her choice will be responsible for an employee contribution, which is assessed each semi-monthly pay period.
The Research Foundation provides nine medical plans from which eligible employees may choose, depending upon their county and state of residence. Six Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans and three Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans are offered.

Post-Retirement Medical Benefits
- Employees hired before July 1, 2008 are eligible to receive post-retirement medical benefits for themselves and their eligible dependents at the time of their retirement if they are 1) age 55 years or older; and 2) have accrued five years of benefited service.
- Employees hired on or after July 1, 2008 are eligible to receive post-retirement medical benefits for themselves and their eligible dependents at the time of their retirement if they are 1) 60 years or older; and 2) have accrued ten years of benefited service.
Please note that Dental and Vision insurance are not included in the Research Foundation's post-retirement medical benefit offering.
