Former Foster Youth and Homelessness
There is long established a link between the foster care system and homelessness. Of those who were in out-of-home care, many experience homeless in adulthood. Often youth leaving care are found to be homeless when there are no suitable transition alternatives. In addition, there are emerging situations of children and youth who are homeless prior to any intervention by children's services. What protection do children and youth have from homelessness, either before or after child welfare intervention?
