Transfer Information Program

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I have to register?

    YES. You must RSVP in order to attend a TIP session.

  • Do I need to attend the full-day program from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm?

    YES. Each aspect of the program will help prepare you to enter SJSU in the fall.

  • Will I be able to drop-in for part of the program?

    NO. You will not be able to participate once the program has begun.

  • Do I have to pay to attend?

    NO.
    Please come prepared to purchase your own lunch and to pay for parking.

  • Where do I park?

    Parking is available at the Seventh Street Parking Garage (also called the South Parking Garage) located at the corner of Seventh Street and San Salvador. You may purchase a one-day permit for $8 (exact change) from an automated ticket vending machine, conveniently located on the 3rd floor of the garage and above.

  • May I bring guests or children?

    It is advised that you not bring guests or children. There is limited seating at some sessions and there are no activities to occupy children.
  • What can I expect from the day?

    The day’s activities are designed to provide you with a university welcome, class registration information, academic advising, and important information about your college and academic department. While on campus you can also get your SJSU photo identification (called the Tower Card), pay your fees, check on your financial aid and campus housing, as well as get acquainted with the Spartan Bookstore, public transportation options, and other campus services.

  • What do I do if I can’t attend?

    It’s OK. Refer to the Transfer 101 brochure. Be sure to follow the other steps listed in the brochure.
    Contact your major department and the Student Advising Center to arrange for an advising appointment. Also, contact individual offices to check on financial aid, testing requirements, campus tours and university housing options. Stop by the Student Services Center for your SJSU photo identification and to pay fees or to visit the Student Advising Center. Be sure to follow the other steps listed in the brochure.

  • How do I cancel?

    If you must cancel your reservation, please notify us as early as possible by calling 408-924-2527 so that your space is available to another new student.

  • How do I get more information about SJSU?

    You should have received a copy of the Transfer 101 brochure in the mail. Read the brochure carefully. It will guide you to most campus resources. It is also recommended that you purchase a University Catalog and download the Fall 2007 Schedule of Classes. Become acquainted early with SJSU parking and alternative transportation options by going to the Parking Services website at http://www.sjsu.edu/parking/.

  • How do students receive accommodations for a disability?

    This event is wheelchair accessible. Please contact the TIP Coordinator at 408/924-2527 to request sign language interpreters or other reasonable accommodations at least two weeks prior to the TIP session you are registered for.
