Junior, software engineering major. Also interested in software development, web development, database management, sustainability, and alternative energy. Aspires to work in the software industry to gain valuable experience and to work in the field of alternative energy in order to find ways to protect the environment and move towards a sustainable lifestyle. Would like to obtain an MBA. Previously served as an intern at Hewlett-Packard in the Enterprise Storage and Servers Division.
Junior, human resources management major. Additional academic interests include international business, globalization, psychology, and humanities. Also enjoys running, reading, listening to music, hanging out with friends, and photography. Hopes to pursue a career in the human resources field. Would like to make a difference in the community through local projects that help people understand cultural differences. Has worked as a teacher’s assistant, orientation leader, and peer mentor.
Senior, behavioral sciences major. Also interested in nursing and medicine. Extracurricular activities include volunteering, running, and reading. Aspires to complete a nursing education and find a fulfilling and challenging job in the health care field. Has work experience in the areas of marketing and biomedical devices, and as a waitress and bartender.
Junior, nursing major. Also interested in child development and psychology. Extracurricular activities include tennis, Black Masque Honor Society, Alpha Phi Omega Co-Ed Service Fraternity, and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Would like to pursue a career as a registered nurse. Has served as a home health nurse assistant.
Senior, marine biology and occupational therapy double major; chemistry minor. Enjoys camping at the beach, tide-pooling, snorkeling, scuba diving, snow skiing, reading, appreciating architecture, traveling, thinking about life, socializing with family and friends, and going to church. Would like to pursue a career that integrates marine biology and occupational therapy to become a dolphin assisted therapist, helping handicapped children, the elderly, and Iraq War veterans. Would like to create a self-sustaining institute that can contribute research to the effectiveness of this therapeutic modality and to the conservation of dolphins. Works as a peer coordinator and peer advisor.
Graduate student in communication studies. Also interested in facilitation and classroom instruction. Extracurricular activities include aviation, sailing, biking, hiking, international travel, gardening, and painting. Aspires to become a college level communication instructor. Currently teaches public speaking in the Communication Studies Department at San Jose State University and is a flight instructor.
Junior, political science major; Latin American studies minor. Additional academic interests include race and ethnicity, history, and multicultural diversity. Serves as the vice president of Hip Hop Congress, member of Student Advocates for Higher Education, a peer mentor and a song writer/poet/emcee for the hip-hop projects, Today’s News and Illosophy. Future aspirations include pursuing a career in law with a focus on civil or immigrant rights or working in the non- profit sector with a focus on community organizing. Has previously worked as a San Jose State University office assistant and at the Olive Garden.
First year graduate student in business administration. Also interested in English, psychology, communication, and history. Would like to continue a career as a business developer and founder, start a family, become a business professor, and be increasingly involved in international politics. Has worked in retail sales, and marketing and communications writing, restaurant management, document control supervising, technical writing, and technical operations supervision. Holds a B.A. in English and B.Sc. in psychology from San Jose State University.
Junior, economics major. Interested in examining political issues from an economics perspective and reading about economic development. President and founder of Phi Delta Law Fraternity (PAD) International, which creates a tight-knit honor society devoted to law, professional development, and fraternal spirit. Student at King Hall Outreach Program at the University of California, Davis, a pre-law program for economically and academically disadvantaged students who want to attend law school. Volunteer writer for Defrosting Apathy. Aspires to pursue a J.D. after graduation. Currently serves as a resident advisor for San Jose State Housing Services.
Graduate student in public administration. Extracurricular activities include participation in a study abroad program and serving as an intern with the United States Department of State. Would like to work or consult with a local government or organization to integrate a global perspective into a local context. Has worked as a public affairs consultant. Has a B.A. in global studies from San Jose State University.
Junior, film production and creative advertising major. Also interested in public relations and interior design. Participates in student government, musical theater, and enjoys Middle Eastern Debke dancing. Serves as programming chair for the Honors Society and as a coach for a high school basketball team. Aspires to work in production or commercial advertising with a focus on script writing and direction and then enter the film industry to direct feature length films. Has worked as a Cinequest Intern, director of programming affairs, director of business affairs, an InSpa guest service coordinator, and an Express Women’s Clothing fashion expert.
