Kathleen’s long-standing interest in patient care may be defined by her experience at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) as both a past volunteer and a current student nurse. Her three years of clerical experience at its patient billing department has also led to a better understanding of the financial aspects of our healthcare system. In addition, Kathleen has been privileged to work with San Jose’s diverse community as a volunteer for the San Jose Public Library system, Overfelt Garden’s Chinese Moon Festival Committee, and Martha’s Kitchen. Other academic achievements include involvement as a lead speaker in a 2008 SJSU radio debate regarding the banning of on-campus blood donations. I’m a student of the Humanities Honors Program, and have received the National Scholars Award and President’s Honor Roll (2006). I have participated in National Honor Society (2007-2009), was an avid member of Model United Nations as the officer of Finance (2008-2009) and Secretary General (2009-2010). At the Santa Clara Valley MUN Conference, I received Honorable Mention (2009 and 2010) and several verbal accommodations for my speaking skills and knowledge of global issues. When he’s not in school Eric works as a seasonal firefighter, but he always insists that his studies come first. As current President of AIESEC, Eva leads her team in facilitating international internships while developing global leaders. Eva also works with GlobalTech Bridge, facilitating many multi-functional projects that bring Latin American organizations to the US. Last year, she was the Haas Microfinance Webinar Campus Coordinator, in which she set up streaming events for students to learn about Microfinance. She also volunteered in Project Shine to tutor Elderly Chinese on the US citizenship test. Prior to college, Eva volunteered and lived in a rural Panama, teaching kids about health and constructing an Aqueduct. Eva hopes to run successful social ventures in the future.
