SJSU Salzburg Scholars | Application
We are inviting applications from highly-qualified students to serve as SJSU Salzburg Scholars during 2015-2016. This is a competitive opportunity for outstanding colleagues from throughout the university to broaden their understanding of significant global issues and to help globalize SJSU.
After completing a variety of orientation activities and participating in GLST 164 | Global Citizenship during the Spring 2015 semester, the new Scholars will attend an intensive week-long session of the Global Citizenship Program hosted by the Salzburg Global Seminar in Summer 2015 (May-June). The session will be held at the Seminar's historic palace of Schloß Leopoldskron in Salzburg (Austria), the home of Mozart and a UN World Heritage Site located in the heart of Europe at the foot of the Austrian Alps.
Participants must commit to serving as Scholars for an 18-month period from Spring 2015–Spring 2016, including completion of a collaborative project with SJSU Salzburg Fellows (faculty) to promote global citizenship, positively affect the University as a whole, and strengthen their own abilities to live and work in a complex interconnected world.
We expect to select 8-10 new Scholars this year, depending on available funding. Different units on campus are providing a variety of scholarships to help cover program fees, but Scholars are generally responsible for covering their own travel expenses to attend the session in Salzburg. Scholars are also responsible for obtaining valid passports and (if required) appropriate visas.
If you are interested in serving as an SJSU Salzburg Scholar in 2015-2016, please submit the required Application below. Completing your application online is easy, reliable, and completely secure.
