InternshipSJSU Liason to SchoolsDr. Cathy Buell Single Subject Internship The Single Subject Internship Program* at San Jose State University is a collaborative effort between the faculty of the Single Subject Credential Program and many local school districts. The Internship Program offers high quality teacher education for secondary school (grades 7-12) teachers while they work in culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms. Interns receive on-going coaching from experienced classroom teachers and university faculty. Course work ties theories of "best practice" to interns' classroom experience. Because interns are in their own classrooms from the very begining of their teacher preperation, individuals considering an internship should have had previous experiences working with adolescents as well as possess effective time management skills and confidence in front of groups. In addition, the following must be accomplished before signing an intern agreement:
