At its meeting of April 24, 2006, the Academic Senate passed the following Policy Recommendation presented by Senator Lessow-Hurley for the University Library Board.

 

POLICY RESOLUTION

COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENT OF THE VICE-CHAIR OF THE SENATE

ON THE UNIVERSITY LIBRARY BOARD

 

WHEREAS   the University Library Board advises and assists the Dean of the University Library on matters concerning the academic role of the library, and

 

WHEREAS   the library is a nationally recognized, innovative, and significant partnership between the City of San Jose and the San José State University and

 

WHEREAS   there is a continuing need for a close connection between the University Library Board and university leadership

 

WHEREAS   as a result of the strategic planning process the vice-chair of the Senate has many other committee assignments

 

RESOLVED  that section 2.6.2.2 of UP S03-5 be amended to state. “The immediate past chair of the Senate, or, in the absence of a past chair, the faculty-at-large elected to the Executive Committee, ex officio.”
