At its meeting of May 14, 2007, the Academic Senate passed the following Policy Recommendation presented by Senator Hebert for the Organization and Government Committee.
POLICY RECOMMENDATION
AMENDMENT OF BY-LAW 10 (SPECIAL AGENCIES)
RESPONSIBILITY TO STAGGER FACULTY AT-LARGE TERMS
Whereas: The policies creating many special agencies call for the staggering of faculty-at-large appointments: and;
Whereas: Professional and other circumstance can cause the simultaneous expiration of appointive terms resulting in a loss of stagger and:
Whereas: There exists no specified process, procedure or authority to stagger appointive terms: therefore be it;
Resolved: That the following amendment be adopted;
10.3 f) When filling faculty appointments the Associate Vice Chair of the Senate shall have the responsibility to stagger the terms, unless otherwise specified by policy.
