SM-F08-6, Senate Management Resolution, Changing the Composition of the Program Planning Committee
Legislative History:
The Program Planning Committee was created in Spring 1996 by Senate Management Resolution, SM-S96-4. The committee’s membership was enlarged in Fall 2003 by Senate Management Resolution, SM-F03-2. This resolution adds the AVP or OIR, or his/her designee to the existing committee membership.
At its meeting of December 15, 2008, the Academic Senate approved the following Senate Management Resolution presented by Senator Backer for the Organization and Government Committee.
SENATE MANAGEMENT RESOLUTION
Changing the Composition of the Program Planning Committee
Resolved: that the AVP, Office of Institutional Research (OIR), or his/her designee, be added as a voting ex-officio member of the Program Planning Committee
Approved: November 3, 2008
Vote: 7-0-0
Present: Backer (chair), Main, McClory, Norton, Selter, Hebert, Cerda
Absent: Vanniarajan, Hendrick
Excused: Rickford, Reade
Rationale:
Data Elements from the past five years are required for each department’s program planning self-study. These data elements are used to evaluate past performance, project future performance, and help departments in future strategic planning.
Currently, the AVP of the Office of Institutional Research is providing all of the departments with these required Data Elements. Since this is an important part of the Self-Study, the Program Planning Committee requests that the AVP of the Office of Institutional Research should be an ex-officio voting member of the committee.
