At its meeting of January 29, 2007, the Academic Senate passed the following Senate Management Resolution presented by Senator David for the Curriculum and Research Committee.

SENATE MANAGEMENT RESOLUTION

EXTENDING THE TERM OF THE

INSTITUTIONAL REVIEW BOARD-HUMAN SUBJECTS

TASK FORCE

WHEREAS, Senate Management Resolution SM-F05-1 created an Institutional Review Board-Human Subjects Task Force to (1) review policies and procedures related to the IRB in light of changes in Federal policies and institutional practices at other colleges and universities; (2) study the current implementation of IRB policies and procedures at SJSU; and (3) determine whether any changes are warranted in policies and procedures, and

WHEREAS, The Task Force was instructed to solicit input from many groups that may be affected by its recommendations and issue a final report by the end of Fall, 2006, and

WHEREAS, Its work will not be completed by that time, therefore be it

RESOLVED That the Task Force issue a progress report to the Curriculum and Research Committee by the end of Fall, 2006, and a final report to that Committee by the end of Spring, 2007. The Task Force shall be dissolved upon final action by the Academic Senate.
